Qlik acquires Industrial CodeBox and QVSource

At their annual Qonnections conference held in Orlando, Florida this week, Qlik® announced their acquisition of Industrial CodeBox, the company behind QVSource. With this acquisition, Qlik further expands its already market leading Visual Analytics Platform by enabling customers to include data from cloud-based sources to gain even greater insights.

“Industrial CodeBox and its QVSource application fit squarely in our acquisition strategy as tuck-in technology that enhances the value of Qlik solutions to our customers,” said Anthony Deighton, Chief Technology Officer at Qlik. “This is a great way to accelerate data preparation and expand our cloud-based offerings to meet customer needs.”

The terms of the transaction were not made public.

Who are Industrial CodeBox?

A Qlik Technology Partner since 2011, Industrial CodeBox has a strong history in producing tools which enhance the capabilities of the Qlik Visual Analytics Platform. Their flagship product QVSource allows integration of data from cloud based, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and web APIs allowing Qlik customers to further enhance and contextualise their in-house data sources to gain greater ROI.

How it Works

With more and more companies moving critical business systems into the cloud, being able to make use of the valuable data contained in them can be challenging. Most cloud based systems use proprietary APIs which can be both time consuming and costly to develop integrations for. QVSource offers over 40 out-of-the-box connectors allowing both QlikView and Qlik Sense to access popular web-based services such as Twitter, Facebook, Google Analytics, Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Office 365 Sharepoint and Salesforce. As well as providing access to valuable additional data sources, QVSource can also enrich the data as it is retrieved. For example, a Tweet or Facebook post can be analysed for its sentiment.

Moving Forward

Existing Datoniq customers need not worry, as an existing partner of both Qlik and Industrial CodeBox we will continue to support QVSource and all existing released connectors during the transition period. The connectors will soon be re-branded as Qlik Connectors.
